Still, you are probably saving on your care insurance among other things, too. Cars are such an emotional selling point for our society, as your experience so aptly pointed out! Still, a used vehicle with only 55k miles? You are coming out FAR ahead on the long run, definitely. I'm not sure, but it sounds as if you think the employer match counts towards the IRS maximum contribution to your 401k. Actually, employer contributions do not affect an employee's maximum annual contribution limit. You can contribute $15,500 PLUS your employers match of 6%. Those trucks were flawless <i>trucks</i>. The new models just don't feel like a Toyota truck and don't feel like they will last 20, 30 years.
