The fact that, as you put it, our national "emergency fund" speaks Chinese, Japanese, or Arabic doesn't lead me to sleep well at night! I fear, however, that without the political will (which few have) we will have no insurance against that inevitable day when the bed needs to be slept in. Them's some scary bedbugs. Can't say that I'm impressed, but that's the way a representative democracy works. The "day" will probably be faced continuously over the next 30 years just as it has been faced for the past 30 years, but keep selling new toys to people and they don't mind working more and more for less and less.
