I think I can understand your reasoning for posting this--after all, it IS nice to see low cost alternatives at restaurants, but really, is it a good idea to spend $1.00 on oatmeal?

I can go to my local grocer and buy 2 lbs of the store brand for $1.69 and get 24 servings out of it. That comes to $.07 per serving or, to put it another way, I could make 14 servings of oatmeal myself for what it would cost to buy just one serving at Jamba Juice.

Living well, and within my means is always a matter of monitoring small expenses as well as large . . .

Actually, there are a lot of food items you can still get for $1, based on my own informal survey of 4 local supermarkets. Check it out here: http://credit-blog.creditfyi.com/personal-finances/a-list-of-50-cheap-foods-for-a-dollar.html

And many are healthy, too!

I've had their oatmeal before it was on sale and it was pretty good, but not worth the $3 or whatnot they charge for it. At $1 it just may well be worth it. Then again, you can buy an entire thing of oatmeal and make it at home for less than that.
