I don’t know if I should admit this or not, but I’ve been spending too much time on Reddit lately. If you aren’t familiar with Reddit, it’s a website that sucks you in and never lets you leave. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic but the reality is that there is SO much content on Reddit that it’s hard to walk away from it. If you can imagine it, someone has probably started a subreddit about it. While the posts are very interesting, what really can suck the time out of your life is reading through the comments on some of the posts. It’s addicting!
I had been on Reddit for awhile before I realized that there was a personal finance subreddit (section). Now that I’ve subscribed to that subreddit, I’m seeing all kinds of interesting posts. Most of the people that post in http://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance tend to ask questions. Where you can really spend a lot of time is in the comments of each post. Lots of people offer advice or snarky comments about most of the posts there.
A lot of the questions that people post are actually pretty basic. I think the demographic of Reddit tends to be younger people so they don’t have a ton of experience with personal finance and things like investing, debt and spending. Here are a few of the recent subjects that have been discussed:
Where does a Beginner Start?:

What To Do With $300K (cross post from /r/frugal)
(A commenter even linked to Get Rich Slowly and Bogleheads in their response)
Is Putting a Large Down Payment on a Car a Bad Idea? (Who’s telling these people this???)
So, anyway, those are just a few of the many interesting things to read in Reddit/r/PersonalFinance. You might also find this one interesting:

Here’s just a taste of that subreddit:
Girlfriend Wants To Buy Everything in the Universe:

Like I said, be careful in there. Once you finish looking at the personal finance and frugal subreddits, you may find you’ll lose a few hours while you browse through the rest of the site.

Never got around to using Reddit. I was a Digg and Slashdot avid reader and now I stick to my RSS feeds. I will try not to get sucked in.
