Making your summer memorable does not mean it has to be expensive.
The kids go back to school soon and as a good parent, you want them to enjoy what last few weeks they have of freedom.
For some families, this can mean an amazing week-long trip to Disney that dad found on sale with a Groupon.
For others, it can be an end of the year party at home.
BBQ, friends, family, and some water balloons.
If the kids are having fun they can be less maintenance and allow you more time for the things you enjoy.
For example, I enjoy using my phone to relax with the lottery while the children play and you can learn more about Eurolotto here.
No matter your family’s budget, time, and types of entertainment there are ways to make it enjoyable as long as it has 3 key features.
- The Whole Family is Together
Consult everyone’s schedules.
We live in a busy economy and even a 5 year old has a schedule of class, naps, and playdates.
If conflicts arise reschedule.
It is easier to reschedule work than it is to make your kids stop growing.
- It is Low Stress
Preparation and planning make the world run smoother.
If these are key ideas you use at work and in normal family life then how much more so will they be helpful in planning Summer fun as a family
Do not be so rigid that bathroom breaks have to be scheduled.
Do schedule in free time and the big activities as well as travel time with an allotment for traffic and unforeseen bathroom breaks.
- Stay Within the Budget
To stay within the budget you have to first figure out your finances.
This also involves deciding what you can and are willing to spend.
Add a slush fund to your plans because the unexpected has a tendency to rear its ugly head.
Our family always says, “if it can happen it will happen to us.”
This motto makes the unexpected less painful when it arrives.
Make sure your budget includes food, travel, rooming, and souvenirs.
The children need to have fun and so do you.
Fun as a family will make memories that will last a lifetime.
Children do not remember in 30 years what it cost to go to the theme park but they do remember that mom and dad took time out of their busy lives to spend time and have fun with them.
