Here’s an article that talks about the efforts that are underway to protect some of the lowest income members of our society. Around 10 million people opted to pay extra to get a “refund-anticipation loan” so that they could get access to their tax refunds early. Many of these people just don’t understand enough about money to realize how screwed they are getting: Challenges mount
Wiping your **** and Saving Money Too
As it turns out, we are all frugal when it comes to the kind of toilet paper we buy? Don’t believe me? Then check out this article. Apparently the ultra rich buy special toilet paper. I have got to take the time to become ultra rich. Ultra rich toilet paper link As if that article wasn’t entertaining enough for you, I thought the first comment
Another Windfall Story
Yet another story about someone that gets a windfall of $10,000. There is no question that she’ll spend the money, the only question is on what. Just once I’d love to hear someone answer the question, “What are you going to do with the money?” with “Oh, I’m going to invest it in an index mutual fund and sit on it for 30 years”. I
Stole Money to Play the Lottery – What Was She Thinking?
Okay, This one is a bit odd. I think it highlights the fact that slow and steady saving, or in this case, slow and steady stealing, can really add up. This woman stole over $2.3 million dollars to play the lottery. I can only assume that she was hoping to hit a million dollar jackpot with all of this stolen money. Had she just stolen
Door to Door Meat Sales
Some things seem like good ideas and some just don’t. This falls under the “don’t” category. I’ve told my wife, “If I ever buy meat from a door to door salesman, please just shoot me on the spot”. TACOMA – You might buy candy or cookies from someone selling door-to-door, but would you buy meat? Is it safe? And what are you really getting? Door-to-door
Can A Country Boy Survive?
Awhile back I watched a series called “Country Boys” on PBS. The series was about two young men who were dealing with life in Kentucky. One guy, “Chris” lived in what I would call utter poverty. His family lived in a single wide mobile. His dad was a lifelong alcoholic that ultimately died of liver disease. His mother was an uneducated woman who drifted from
Okay, Now THIS is CHEAP!
I must admit I was thoroughly entertained by this blog posting that is complete with audio files of the voicemails this guy left when trying to get his date to cover her share of the restaurant bill after he realized she wasn’t interested in him. Oh, and did I mention he is supposedly the CEO of a company? Yeah. You have got to read through
Everything Under $25 now FREE at Walmart?
So, I’m not sure this is the greatest policy in the world. Why would you publicly come out and state that you won’t prosecute anyone for stealing things under $25? It seems like a huge invitation for questionable people to come in to your store and go to town. Another thing they said was that they wouldn’t prosecute anyone under 18 years old. WTF? So
Parking Ticket Etiquette
In case you were wondering: Writing “bullshiat money grab” on your parking ticket and then sending it in with your payment could very well get you a real court date in front of a real judge. Apparently they consider that “contempt of court”. http://www.local6.com/news/9430721/detail.html
Bury Your Relative, Or Remodel Your Kitchen?
Here’s a shocking issue. Is it a trend? Check out the link below. Here’s a quote from the article: “At first the woman claimed she couldn’t afford it, but when Wackerly pressed her, she acknowledged that there was insurance money, but that her family didn’t like the mother-in-law and hoped to use the cash to remodel their kitchen.” http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/UNCLAIMED_DEAD Â
